| Can you get paid to be fit? You can with a fitness career!
Take personal training, for instance. The job of a personal trainer is to stay in great shape and assist others in doing the same. Through one-on-one sessions with clients, trainers use their knowledge of human physiology to assess client fitness levels, demonstrate proper exercise techniques, and develop appropriate exercise programs. Then, personal trainers help clients reach those fitness goals.
Besides getting fit for a fitness career, you need to get certified. Be sure that the personal training organization you're considering is accredited or is seeking accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. The American College of Sports Medicine, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification Commission are three of the major accredited organizations offering personal training certification.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, fitness workers held about 205,000 jobs in 2004. And, personal training employment is expected to increase much faster than the average -- that's an increase of 27 percent of more -- for all occupations through 2014. Median annual earnings of personal trainers were $25,470 in May 2004, while the top 10 percent earned $55,560 or more.
With a career in personal training, you can get paid to feel great. |
