Sound Healing

deals with the principle that the body can naturally heal itself with sound because sound can boost the immune system. Things like chanting or vibrations from a person's voice or an instrument are used in sound healing to wake up the body. Each cell in the body is a sound resonator so it takes a particular kind of sound and pattern to wake that part of the body up.

What You'll Learn
Sound healing students will learn many different things when studying this field. First, they'll begin with a study of sounds and how they affect human beings. In addition, sound healing students will also learn about the brain and how it functions, as well as about other parts of the body, such as the heart. There are also lessons on how sound travels, including the different kinds of ways to make a particular sound.

Degree Types
Oftentimes, sound healing practitioners have earned their degree in music therapy. It is also possible for a sound healing practitioner to work toward a certificate in a sound healing training program or even a master's degree.

Career Paths
Sound healing is practiced within hospitals, schools, or in private practices. In fact, sound healing can be used in conjunction with Acupuncture treatment because sound will stimulate specific points in the body.

Job Outlook
Sound healing has been around for thousands of years, but is becoming more popular in today's healing processes mainly because of the popularity of natural healing methods. For this reason, sound healing practitioners can expect more opportunities to open up throughout the field.

Licensing and Accreditation Information
There is no national licensing required for sound healing and states are often inconsistent with their requirements so it's important to check with your local government. However, a certificate in sound healing will demonstrate a certain skill level for sound healing.
