| Rosen Method Studies - Rosen Method Programs |
| by Dawn Papandrea |
Established by Marion Rosen and her experience as a physical therapist and health educator, the Rosen Method is a gentle healing therapy that utilizes soft touch to promote relaxation and relieve tension. It is often used in conjunction with other alternative healing therapies and/or traditional medical care.
What You'll Learn
Students who pursue training in the Rosen Method will learn how to use their hands to "listen" to their clients' bodies. They will learn how to apply a direct, but gentle touch and focus on areas of chronic muscle tension. Rosen Method students will also learn verbal communication techniques designed to enhance sessions.
Degree Types
Students may take coursework in the Rosen Method and earn certification. In many cases, this technique is taught as part of a Massage therapy or holistic healing curriculum.
Career Paths
Practicioners of the Rosen Method perform therapy sessions with clients to help them alleviate pain, improve posture and movement, relieve symptoms of chronic conditions like insomnia, and promote spiritual awareness. Those with an expertise in the Rosen Method may also be skilled in other massage or bodywork techniques.
Job Outlook
In general, employment in holistic healing and massage therapies is expected to increase faster than average over the period from 2006 to 2016 as more people seek alternative healing services, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Often, students pursue specialized training in the Rosen Method and other healing arts techniques to increase their job prospects.
Licensing and Accreditation Information
To practice Rosen Method bodywork professionally, check into your state's regulations and determine if you need to acquire a state massage license. You can also learn more via The Rosen Method Professional Association, RMPA, a worldwide organization that furthers the practice, growth and evolution of Rosen Method bodywork and movement.
