Ortho-Bionomy Studies - Ortho-Bionomy Programs
by Guest Guest

ortho-bionomy

is a type of bodywork that promotes a state of relaxation throughout the body. Through gentle movements and touch, the ortho-bionomy practitioner works to alleviate tension at stress points throughout the client's body. Forceful movements are never used within this bodywork practice.

What You'll Learn
With ortho-bionomy studies you'll learn how to listen to a client and their body so that you can properly address trouble spots. You'll also learn how to manipulate the body so that the client's general well-being is improved.

Degree Types & Career Opportunities
Currently, there is no formal degree offered in ortho-bionomy and no prior education is required before entering a class. With the proper training and qualifications in ortho-bionomy, however, a student may go on to become a practitioner treating clients, an instructor who teaches ortho-bionomy to prospective practitioners, or a casual practitioner who knows how to perform ortho-bionomy but does not offer it at the professional or business level.

Job Outlook
As more people turn to alternative modes of treatment, careers in bodyworks -- and the holistic field at large -- can be expected to increase, though exact numbers are not known.

Licensing and Accreditation Information
There is no license required for practicing ortho-bionomy, however, the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International, which acts as a regulating body within the field, has set certain qualifications for professional practitioners and instructors. This ranges from the completion of a prescribed number of ortho-bionomy programs to extensive training and assessment by the Instructor Review Committee which culminates in being registered with the group.
