Healing Touch Studies - Healing Touch Programs

Healing Touch

is a type of energy therapy that uses particular techniques to help with the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual states of health. Healing touch practitioners use their hands in a heart-shaped and intentional way to get the body back to where it needs to be. The whole premise of healing touch is that there is an energy field surrounding the body that can sometimes be broken. Healing touch has been in practice since 1989, when it was founded by Janet Mentgen, RN.

What You'll Learn
There are six levels of learning within healing touch programs. This allows healing touch students to become more experienced and advanced throughout the healing touch program, where they'll learn to communicate with the client and approach the body in the gentle manner required by healing touch.

Degree Types
Healing touch programs will typically grant students with a certificate that proves their enhanced skills. This is done by Healing Touch International, Inc., which has had a certifying program in place since 1996. In addition to becoming certified, healing touch students may be nurses who are fulfilling their continuing education units (CEUs).

Career Paths
Those who have completed healing touch programs may work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, spas, and other health care practices. Health care professionals who may practice this type of holistic practice include nurses, counselors, physicians, massage therapists, and psychotherapists. Healing touch practitioners treat cancer, cardio-vascular disease, stress, chronic pain, and more.

Job Outlook
Like any other holistic practice, the job outlook is very good due to an increase in popularity of these programs. Healing touch is no exception and is specifically beneficial to those nurses or massage therapists who earn this type of certification. The more versatile and diverse the number of skills one has, the better their chances of securing the most popular jobs.

Licensing and Accreditation Information
Healing touch licensing is dependent upon each state so check with your local licensing board for more information on this holistic practice.
