Hakomi

is a form of psychotherapy, which helps people analyze certain aspects of their lives and gives them the opportunity to discover themselves. Hakomi uses five main principles, which include mindfulness, organicity, non-violence, mind-body connection, and unity. It was developed by Ron Kurtz in 1981 and is practiced at the Hakomi Institute in Boulder, Colo.

What You'll Learn
Hakomi students learn to work with people. This type of holistic approach is one in which people need to discover hidden things about themselves so it's important that Hakomi students learn to communicate effectively and efficiently with their patients.

Degree Types
Upon completing a hakomi education, students usually earn a certificate that allows them to practice the psychotherapy with patients. Those with a hakomi education oftentimes also have a background in massage or some other holistic healing method.

Career Paths
Those with a hakomi education may choose to work in a variety of places. Holistic practices, hospitals, and other medical places of business may have jobs for those interested in hakomi.

Job Outlook
As holistic healing becomes more popular, the various practices increase in popularity as well. As this has been an established practice for about 30 years, many people have been seeking hakomi treatment. Those with a hakomi education tend to have the best job outlook within this part of the holistic healing field.
