A form of massage, Breema bodywork works to combine the deep tissue manipulation of Thai massage with the stretching and partner aspects of yoga. Under the guidance and assistance of a trained Breema instructor, clients adopt stretching poses that are meant to improve both their physical and mental wellness. The entire Breema bodywork session is said to benefit the flow of client's life energy. A solo version of Breema, known as Self-Breema, may also be used to the same effects and may be taught to a client by a Breema instructor. What You'll Learn By enrolling in Breema courses you'll learn the proper poses that should be adopted during Breema exercises, along with how to touch and aide clients in their stretches. If you're enrolling in Breema courses in order to integrate them into your health routine, you'll instead learn the techniques of Self-Breema. Degree Types Although no formal degrees are offered in the field, a student may gain Breema certification as either a practitioner or instructor. Career Paths While some students may choose to begin careers as Breema instructors, others may simply integrate their new Breema bodywork skills into their current work in the health care and wellness fields. Job Outlook Employment within the Massage therapy field is expected to increase anywhere from 18 to 26 percent through the year 2014, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. As more patients turn to holistic medicine, employment for Breema instructors should also experience an increase. Licensing and Accreditation Information Although most states require massage therapists to pass the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) in order to practice, there is no specific information on whether Breema bodywork fully qualifies as a massage therapy. It is thus recommended that you check with your state government for specific requirements.
